Service Immersion Trip

The Panhellenic Association and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life are proud to offer an opportunity to develop as a person and as a leader through our third service immersion trip to New Orleans from May 13-19, 2018. A service immersion trip is an opportunity for an intensive week of service, cultural immersion, and values exploration that challenges participants to learn about the world and also themselves. It is also an excellent way to network and bond with women in different sororities at Penn State and hopefully reflect on the experiences that you have on the trip as they relate to the values of our organizations. During this particular trip, we’ll be volunteering with a few local non-profits, as well as taking some tours of New Orleans, and spending time in the French Quarter.

The cost of the trip is $500 plus travel expenses (flight to New Orleans). That fee includes hotel and all travel in New Orleans. It also includes all meals (except for one breakfast at Cafe du Monde for beignets that participants will pay for themselves). Flight details will be worked out closer to departure, but flights right now are typically running from $260-$400 from major nearby airports. Orientation and training sessions will take place during the spring semester and participants will be REQUIRED to attend ALL trainings prior to leaving for New Orleans.

The Panhellenic Association is very excited to be providing this opportunity to members and I hope that you’ll consider this incredible way to spend a week before your summer begins this summer! The trip promises to be an amazing experience that will allow you to spend time with other Panhellenic Association women, learn about yourselves, and have fun!
